The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) originated in the 1870s as Canada’s first police force. At that time, they were called the North-West Mounted Police, and consisted of 275 men on horseback who were sent to police whisky traders in Alberta.
I bought the same hat 2 years ago to wear when I travel in Europe. People don't ask silly questions about the US. The hat fits well and looks great! Clearly marks me as Canadian.
