Convenient kits include bearings and all attaching hardware
Kits for aircraft equipped with and without hinge modification service kits
One elevator kit and one rudder kit required per aircraft
Industry standard hardware
Cessna has issued several non-mandatory service bulletins and service kits for the rudder and elevator hinge bearings on the Caravan due to a corrosion issue with the needle bearing. The service kits require modification to the hinge structure, not just the bearing itself. The new bearing is a different size than the "original" design, so the mounting hardware is different as well. Because of these structural changes any aircraft that has had the service kits installed cannot use hardware from a non-service kit aircraft. McFarlane offers two kits for each surface, one for service kit equipped aircraft and one for non-service kit equipped aircraft.
Note: Please click "View Eligible Aircraft" to verify kit eligibility for aircraft with and without hinge modification service kits.
The Frekote 770-NC synthetic mold release I ordered has a 6-month shelf life from the factory. The can I received on 8/25 was set to expire on 8/31 according to the date printed on the bottom of the can. I called and sent a photo of the can bottom and they said it should have been taken off the shelf a month earlier, so they will send me a good can when new stock arrives without sending the out of date can back.
I appreciate the fast delivery and them taking care of the issue, but it means you could be buying product that has only one month of shelf life remaining. Call before you buy and have them confirm the expiration date of their stock and if it is less than works for you, work out delivery from fresh stock or negotiate a discount.
