The product is both the inner harder plastic core, and the padded band. I was updating a headset that had the very inexpensive foam bubbles headpad that is generally kind of awful.
You will have to remove the metal headband from your headset, then remove the center pad assembly. From the factory, most of them that i have seen use a plastic tab to lock them into the right spot on the headband. This has to be bent down to disengage, and then slide the pad off the metal band.
This new part doesn't have the locking tabs, but I'm not convinced it heeds them. The point deduction is because the replacement part is missing these tabs and isn't an exact copy of the factory installed part. Install is pretty brain dead easy, just keep track of all the cable management and get the shims between the bands back in on reassembly.
I haven't worn it yet to comment on the comfort, but It has to be better than the clapped out one I took off.

I built this kit as a teenager most of 55 years ago. The kit is essentially the same, but now they’re laser cut. In the past, the panels were die-cut, sometimes you get one done with a dull cutter. That took a lot of extra time, carefully re-scoring everything with a narrow Exacto blade so the pieces wouldn’t split. This kit is so crisp, it’s a joy to assemble. It’s fun seeing old reflexes come to life while assembling this baby. I only have the FW-190 from those years, but also built this one (the Hellcat), the Spitfire, Me-109, and the P-40. Good times!
